• eSignal 7.9 Beta Release ready to test

    Calling All Testers

We’ve just finished building our first beta version of the 7.9 release of eSignal. This beta can be found in the 7 Series Beta file share group as well as in the EFS2 Beta group. The reason we created a separate group for EFS2 is that the 7.9 release is introducing our next step into formula scripting and we want a place where users can concentrate on EFS2 while others are looking at the rest of the features being introduced with this release. Please see the list of major features below along with some descriptions. As we continue to a production version of 7.9, we’ll develop more documentation including Knowledge Base articles for each of our new or enhanced features.

eSignal has also begun using a new product called Breeze to conduct online seminars which include voice and live presentations. We’ll be using this new tool to hold training sessions on the 7.9 features as well as start a series of online User/Developer conferences to showcase the new ease, flexibility, and power of EFS2.

Please join us in this beta test and give us as much feedback as possible in the 7 Series Beta and EFS2 Development forums. There is also already quite a bit of information about EFS2 in the previously listed forums and file share groups.

EFS2

EFS2 is a major enhancement in the development of eSignal Formula Scripts.
It adds ease of use by simplifying the code so that single lines of code can now replace what used to take more work.
You can now do a study of a study with 1 line of code.
Studies can now be done based on different symbols and/or intervals than the underlying chart.
Function libraries can now be created to store frequently used functions so they can be called in a formula script with a single line of code. Many functions will be available by default and this will grow as time goes on. Developers will also be able to create their own custom libraries to simplify scripting of complicated studies and strategies.
The Beta installer includes 2 new folders under the Formulas menu choice in an advanced chart. These 2 folders include sample formula scripts to begin testing with as well as to start modifying for your own use. As always with included scripts, please save any changes you make to a new file name so they're not overwritten by any software upgrades.

Market Profile Enhancements

Manually combined distributions are now saved/loaded from the page.
Manually combined distributions may be easily separate on a case-by-case basis using the right-click menu. Previously users had to reload the entire chart, losing ALL distributions.
Manually combined distributions will now ‘unmerge’ when the user scrolls back far enough to cause another data request.
Copyright logo moved above cursor display when active so that it doesn’t obscure the earliest TPO/VAH/VAL numbers.
TPO Summary added to each session (toggled on/off through Properties). Shows price of widest TPO point, plus TPO count and its % of the day.
Manually set tick increments/factors are now saved and loaded.
The actual letter segments themselves can now be edited. Previously users could only shift them up or down.

User Configured Continuous Contracts
    1. Users can now determine the rules for rolling a continuous contract using a new feature under the Tools menu called Continuous Contracts Settings.
    2. This can be used to string together any futures contract including International futures.
    3. Rules are set up on a contract by contract basis, though there's a default setting if you don't create a specific rule.
    4. You can pick from some preset rules, edit one of these rules, or create an entirely new rule.
    5. After selecting a rule for a specific contract, you can also choose which months to include in the continuous string including picking less months that the contract really trades.
    6. These contracts can be strung together as is, or you can choose to back adjust them at roll.
    7. Once a rule is set up, you can enter the symbol as <ROOT>[Space]<NUM>! for domestic contracts and <ROOT>[Space]<NUM>!-<Exchange Code> for international contracts. Example - ES 1! for the mini and AX 1!-DT for the DAX. Using a 1 as the number gives you the current front month contract. Using 2 gives you the next forward contract and using a 3 gives you the following forward contract. For March 2005 as the front month contract, H5 would be the same as 1!, M5 would be the same as 2!, and U5 would be the same as 3!.
8. Quote Board is now completely customizable via right click and choosing Customize Fields. These fields can be ordered any way you want and the window will just get longer as more fields are added.
    9. Point & Figure charts now have the ability to be based on a High/Low combination instead of just based on 1 field.

    Thank you,
Working...
