Wave 4 Channel question (time element)

In a Type 1 trade, if PTI > 35 and Price is holding the Wave 4 channels but has gone beyond the time element of the channels, is a Type 1 trade still valid when a Wave 4 count is activated beyond those time parameters. I have had a look through the forums but any links that might have helped me seem to be unavailable . . . the answer may simply be a case of a protracted outcome to a Wave 5 but there may be more to it than my present understanding.
