    Symbol mapping Quote.com eSignal

    Jay wrote:

I understand (even if, fortunately, a lot of symbols are the same from Quote.com and eSignal feeds and if it is easy enough to deal with the "new" symbology for the futures).

Would it be possible to get at least this "symbol mapping" for the symbols of the Quote.com Breadthalizer that eSignal servers currently supports?

Without this list, it is very difficult to use eSignal feed with a 3rd
party (without installing the Qcharts beta).

      Re: Symbol mapping Quote.com eSignal

      Jean-Pierre,

The eSignal servers do not have the Breadthalyzer syms, and HotLists, as yet. Eventually this will be added to the eSig servers. In the interim, like now, QCharts 6.0 Beta is making a connection to Quote.com servers to supply Breadthalyzer and HotLists. QC 6.0 is getting data from both eSignal servers and Quote.com servers.

Your Investor R/T is programmed to only get data from eSignal (and the other data feeds it supports). I/RT doe not support access to Quote.com servers. Therefore it can only supply data that's on the eSignal servers.

        Thank you again, Larry.

Sorry if my understanding is not correct, but thanks your previous information I noticed that eSignal feed already provides for NYSE, AMEX, etc. (but non only) a lot of the same "statistic data" as Breadthalizer of Quote.com but with different symbols.

        Just for example (for NYSE)

        $ADV NYSE Advancing Issues Quote.com symbol: QC:ADVN.NY
$DECL NYSE Declining Issues QC: DECL.NY
        $DVOL NYSE Down Volume QC : DNVOL.NY
        ......
        ......
        (more and more)

So, my problem is to easily convert all the Quote.com symbols that eSignal feed currently supports in eSignal symbols.

By the way, before definitively switching from Quote.com feed to eSignal feed, I currently use both versions (Quote.com and eSignal versions) of Investor/IRT.
So I can get the data from eSignal or from Quote.com with each of the two softwares .

As the list of the symbols (below) I need to convert has many symbols,it would be hard to do that for each symbol. I also noticed that the "name" of these data is not downloaded with the "price" by eSignal feed for those data (as it happens with stocks).

        My Quote.com list:

Yes, and they can, just not on the same PC currently. The reason for this is that each account is tied to a specific product and both QCharts 6.0 and eSignal are authenticated via the Data Manager, which can only work with one user name at a time... i.e. an eSignal username doesn't have the entitlements to allow QCharts to run, and a QCharts account doesn't have the entitlements to allow eSignal to run.

One option around this conundrum is to create an option for eSignal users to add-on the QCharts software to their eSignal account. This, however, might cause more confusion than help. Also, because the products are similar in their feature offering, there has not yet been a large demand for this type of account setup.

We're always open to feedback, so if others are also looking for this, drop us a line.

These are the eSignal network equivalent symbols that are currently available. We are working towards getting all the Breadthalizer symbols into the eSignal network eventually.
