  • Tradestation 2ki plug-in problem

Here I am installing Tradestation 2ki on a new computer again, and this time, when I go to download from Esignal using the 5156 plug-in, I get the error message "A critical error occurred in GlobalServer, Shutting down."
I have uninstalled the plug-in and reinstalled it again, but no change. The Globalserver is accepting imported data from the old computer (don't know how else to figure out if it is working until the market opens).
Would sure appreciate some help to solve this mystery.
    Thanks, Phil

    Tradestation 2ki plug in

Esignal seemed to provide real time updates on Tradestation today, but twice it just stopped updating ...... don't know why ....... did the same thing just at 2:15pm yesterday too (didn't see the wonderful move).
So, today, I uninstalled Tradestation/Globalserver and reinstalled. Then did the same with the plug-in.
Now, I no longer get the the 'critical error' and shutdown of Globalserver ... it seems to walk thru things normally.
Maybe just need the correct sequence of installation. Hope this works.

        Hi Phlsti
I am also new with Tradestation and eSignal. First it worked fine for me until I re-installed it for to get the historical data.
I did the complete re-install several times.
If you want to get rid of the error, you have to install Tradestation and its patches/releases without the realtime-feed. Just indicate that you want to get the batch-End-of-Day data.
When everything is installed, install the eSignal plugin and for to activate the real-time feed do in the GlobalSerer the Tools/Run Setup Wizard and set it now to the realtime feed.
For me it worked and I have no errors anymore.
I still have to get the right settings for the historical-data, but I think it works also. Last week I tested with the tool HyperServer for to get historical data, this worked fine but takes very long time to get updated. When I shut down the machine all historical data were lost - but this may be because I had only a trial version.
Hope the re-install works for you too.
        Cheers
        Ann

          Thanks, Ann, for responding.
I uninstalled TS2ki and the plug-in, then installed TS and specified 'other' as the data source. Installed SP5 for TS. Then installed the plug-in (which showed up in GS but of course went immediately to 'download complete' when trying to download with EOD settings).
Then I added the DBC online account, and now when GS started, Esignal was started also.
Unfortunately, when I try to download from Esignal, I still get the 'critical error' message and it shuts down.
I tried deleting all data (since it is so old), and just picking one stock to download, but get the same error and GS shuts down. Wish it had worked for me too.

            Hi
Not that I am a specialist in Tradestation and eSignal ... I am still trying to get the history-download I need...
but I think it may be linked how you have configured your symbols and the plug-in.

            Plug-in:
When you are in File/Download from ESignal you can add a new configuration - in my case for example I choose again Forex and have then the possibility to add more data (1 Tick BID and so on) which are not in the standard. I override the standard with my personal settings.

            Symbols:
Check that every symbol (symbol/edit) is connected to the right market.

If you can't bring it to work, you can also try the "HyperServer 3.0 for eSignal" (HyperServer 3.0 license cost Eur 120) who may correct some invalid settings...
They can also give you a trial version

I just saw that there is another "OnDemand Server" for to get Data from eSignal withouth GS.
              http://www.tssupport.com/services/ods/ (USD 297).
I wonder if someone has some experience with it ?
Is it worth to get it ?
              Thanks for feedback

Yes, I made sure the sample stocks were 'connected' before trying the download, and I tried intraday and daily downloads (separately and together) of one stock and multiple stocks (easiest first, of course), but none would work. I had to add the 'daily' option for the stocks, so made mods -- all failed. Odd, since this is an XP machine and the older machine I was using was XP also, where the Esignal download ran just fine.
Now, the last link you show sounds like the ideal solution -- seems like TS support has come up with something to replace the Globalserver method, which periodically freezes and takes forever to correct itself when it does. Unfortunately, they have also priced it equal to buying Amibroker pro, which I have been using also, and just love. So I think I am just going to forget TS2ki and convert completely to Amibroker charting (still Esignal feed). Thanks again for your help.

I just looked very fast at AmiBroker, it looks quite nice.
Do you also program your own formulas ?
In TS I am missing the Drag-and-Drop possibilites - move a chart, make it bigger, smaller, change the scale just by dragging is not there.
In addition I can not get the charts for 10Min/15Min/2hours/4hours/6hours/8hours ...
Does Amibroker offer a better interface and same possibilites with "predefined forumulas" and own "formulas" ?
                  Are there more time-intervalls ?
May be I go to buy it too ... (even when I ordered just one week ago many books for TS..)

Yes, programming is done as .afl's, and even the chart itself is an afl ........ large number of built in indicators (all as editable afl's) plus a large library of user generated afl's. Amibroker has layers, layouts, multiple sheets (on same symbol), tabbed windows, watchlists, and more, multiple timeframes that you set, either ticks or time-based ...... seems to me they have a trial edition, so try before you buy. Nice part is it is a one-time cost with free updates for a year, not monthly drain like others. Lots of knowledge base and a Yahoo support group also and these available always. Great support (I transferred to new computer after 2 years using, and no fee charged for latest edition download to new computer). Much better Fib setups than TS2ki, so I have been using both side-by-side while comfortable with TS 'look', but time to get with the new program. One is as easy to program as the other, but Amibroker is much more powerful.

to change scale in Amibroker, you hold the shift down, click on the vertical axis and drag the mouse up or down ..... there is goes.

                        Hi phlsti

Thanks for your answers. I may also try Amibroker. This afternoond I finally just bought the MetaStock software. I think if you have to invest that much for a reliable interface to the datafeed I can first try other trading-sw. I have an account with Saxo-Bank who have already a very nice trading-sw - free data feed and so on... but its not possible to program own algorithms and it cost quite a lot for each deal. ...
I think it should be possible to get a professional trading-sw. As someone said once, if you try to do trading with old SW its like playing golf with a piece of wood, so I am searching for the best ;-)
                        Cheers
