DDE Excel Sheet to HTML or EXE or JAVA based app?

I have a spreadsheet that tracks different data that is called from an EFS indicator within Esignal. I would like to be able to get away from the spreadsheet, and perhaps have the DDE data going into a web page, or else into a EXE file, that I can just run. Or perhaps a JAVA based app, would also work.

Anyone have an experience with using DDE into another format, rather than Excel?

If so perhaps the application name, or some starting points with how to get this working would be a big help.
