  • Security Key Not Found

    I have just upgraded to Windows XP. When I try to run GET, I get the message 'security key not found'.
    Has anyone got any bright ideas on this. The dongle is there OK, the port is configured and the printer on that port works OK....?
    PS despite being on their mailing list and being a long-time GET user, I have heard nothing about the relationship between Trading techniques and eSignal - can anyone update me? Thanks!

    you have to re install, you lost the registry line that works the
    software for the dongle.

      Hmm...tried that but wonder if I missed something.
      First I tried to re-install over the top using Web Update.
      Then I deleted, cleaned up (using Norton), then reinstalled.
      No go....
      I also swapped dongles (which did not help).
      I have check all my port settings against another XP machine that is running GET OK and they are identical.
      Bummer, I have spent days on this and our market is about to open....I hate dongles!

        You may need to update the Rainbow Sentinel drivers.
        To do this go to the link below and download the Sentinel System Driver v 5.41.1 (4.9 MB).

          Horray!!! Toddao was on the right angle.
          This time I REALLY cleaned up! The steps were:
          * uninstall GET
          * Regedit and get rid of all GET and Trading Techniques references
          * Delete the hard drive directory (save the pages etc elsewhere)
          * Regclean
          * Do a Norton cleanup
          * Reboot
          * Install an older version from CD. Ran OK
          * Reboot and Webupdate. Ran OK
          !! Just proves the worth of this Board - a little help in the right direction instead of fumbling on alone!
          Thanks guys

          PS I should have gone the whole hog and done a clean install of XP instead of updating. The reason that I started was cos I use Omnitrader to search for opportunities and that has LOUSY resource management that is enhanced by Windows ME TERRIBLE resource management! I have a lot of trouble searching efficiently using GET...

            Re: Reply to post 'Security Key Not Found'

            I had to re install from the cd, web update does not do the security
            key

              Alex,
              I also had this problem (not seeing the security plug on the parallel port after Win XP Pro upgrade) on Friday, but thanks to this thread, I was able to get the new sentinel upgrade, then add my parallel port address to get the security plug to work. This all happened when I thought I was being smart by upgrading my Win98 system to XP Professional before installing AGET. In the long run, I'm sure it will be much better, but it sure presents some challenges.

                If it is of any consolation you probably would have had to update the Sentinel drivers even if you had installed AdvancedGET before upgrading to winXP.
