  • One Day Only chart - Not!

Below is a chart of intraday Nasdaq volume (Up, Dn and Diff), (just symbol overlays, no efs's). Both charts are One-Day-Only, yet on the one minute chart (left) previous day data is plotted. On two minute (right) or higher timeframe charts, just the current day data is plotted, as I want.

Why does previous day data plot on One-Day-Only charts? Can I prevent it? I am sure it was working fine a couple of weeks ago.

    Regards

Still hoping for answer as to why $UVOLQ and $DVOLQ will not plot ONLY in the current day, in one-day-only, one minute charts. Why do they plot in previous days also, and is there a way to prevent that?

FWIW it seems to be working fine at my end on 1 minute [and other intervals] using the latest 10.6 version.

        Thanks for the reply, Alex.

After seeing your reply (in the middle of the market day), I copied my existing chart, removed everything but the three volumes, and still the prior days data appeared.

This chart is a permanent part of my layout, so it appears each morning pre-market with yesterdays data. Very soon after the market open I quickly switch from 2 minute back to 1 minute as a refresh. No data from yesterday appears in the 2' chart, but when I switch back to 1', there is yesterdays data for the U and D volumes. I wonder if ydays data continues to appear because it had already been loaded pre-market?

I will 'Exit All and Save' tonite with a 2 minute chart and see if that makes a difference tomorrow (i.e. 2' data will be preloaded tomorrow morning).

I reopened the chart mentioned in the first paragraph after the close today, and this time only todays data appeared. So somehow opening the chart after the close cut off ydays data. I will try creating this chart from scratch mid-day tomorrow and see if that makes a difference. And also try with the NYSE equivalents.

Thanks again for displaying your mid day charts. Via my experiments above I'll see if I can duplicate them.

        Regards
        Shaeffer

Even with the chart opening this morning with yesterdays 2' data, when I switched to 1', the previous days data appeared. After a few refreshes and about 15 minutes, the previous day data finally disappeared. I do have an efs below this main 3-volume chart, that uses U and DVOLQ .. maybe they are affecting the main chart.

I will have a bare bones chart (just the 3 volumes) open on Monday, and see if it wants to display the previous day volume. I guess if it displays only one day, its my efs affecting the other chart.

On further thought, it is only the D and UVOLQ that display previous day data .. the VOLDQ does not. And in that efs I use D and UVOLQ, but not VOLDQ. That suggests the efs may be affecting the main 3-volume chart. I'll see what happens on Monday.

I'm giving up on this issue. The 1' (3 volume only) chart displays no previous day data, but now the 5' chart does. And the 5' NYSE U and D volumes also show previous day data, (but in this case overlayed on another chart).

I've resorted to combining the Up and Down volumes into an efs and using that. For some reason I don't see the opening two bars of data, but that is better than seeing the previous day data. That's good enough.
