  • Short Questions on Esignal 7.9

I have a few quick questions on Esignal that I just want to clarify:

    1) The current Level II provider that I'm with, display very small numbers on the graph because of Sun Java. So what I did is, I un-installed my Sun Java and installed the old Microsoft Java. Now the number on the graphs are regular size that I can read.

(see the size of the number on the graph from the link, note the no. on the far right of the graph, it is readable:

Does Esignal support Microsoft Java? If not, say Esignal only works w/ Sun Java, is the size of the fonts big enough for people to read say, on a 1280x1024 screen? I notice the graph that Alexis show me from this thread (below), that the font is big enough for anyone to read, but does that require a certain ver. of Sun Java?

    2) My current level ii data provider, gather the stock market data from yet another provider, then pack them altogether and send them per second to my computer, so there are times that there is Time-out packets. As such, there are packet error due to the way that current provider is doing things.

There is virtually no packet loss on my side. I spoke to my ISP and provided me w/ proof. But on some days, due to the way that level ii data provider is doing things, the data would just stop feeding.

How does Esignal gather its data and feed it to each user? with my current provider, there is a huge amt. of Upload in the range of 80 MB per day (whereas my download is only 16 MB).

    3) Does esignal gives streaming quote on Pre-Market and After-Market?

    4) I was told that Esignal gives Real time Option contract on oil, in which package does it comes with? It would be nice to see real time Oil prices, but someone told me that it doesn't have that feature.

    5) In far more than 1 occasion, we have seen a huge short or long vol. at a certain time of the day, say 9:30 am, we have 2 Million shares on ebay.
Then the rest of the day, the vol. per minute is only 20K to 90K. Because the bar at 9:30 am is so high, all the other volume bar becomes very tiny.

Now, one way to fix this is to kill all your indicators, and maybe you can read the vol. better, or move your pointer to that minute and read the numerical vol. of that minute. But sometimes, because the initial bar of 2 M shares is so high, even by killing all your indicators, you still can't read the difference in height on each min. vol. graph.

Does Esignal has a feature to manually adjust or kill a certain minute vol., for e.g., the 9:30 am vol. that I mention above, so you can view the volume for the rest of the day?

In the mean time here are a couple of answers
    1) eSignal is not a Java application. As to the size of the font you can change it at will and have it as small

or as large as you wish

    5) This can easily be done through a formula (see image below). There actually is already a thread in this Bulletin Board where someone posted a formula that will automatically adjust the volume display so as to curb spikes

Thanks again Alexis. So as to the formula, I just want to make sure, for any esignal user, what do they need to do? Just key in the formula and let the software do the rest?

In general you would simply load the formula in the chart and let it run. Some formulas may also include user definable parameters should you need/want to fine tune or even override it

Thanks again, Alexis. I also found that thread you told me about.

Each update to the Market Depth Window (Level II) is sent as a separate packet. Were you looking for more information then that? If so, please clarify.

            3) Does esignal gives streaming quote on Pre-Market and After-Market?
We certainly do. Depending on what window you are looking at there are different ways to access that data. For instance, an Advanced Chart will display all 24 hours of data by default when using an intraday interval, so the chart will display that automatically. For a Quote Window, you will need to add the column called "Last/FormT".

            4) I was told that Esignal gives Real time Option contract on oil, in which package does it comes with? It would be nice to see real time Oil prices, but someone told me that it doesn't have that feature.
This will come with any package that has Futures data. The minimum package for that would be eSignal Premier. You would then add the NYMEX exchange to your account to have access to the Crude Oil future options.

I guess a better question is: the way that esignal sends its data to each user, what is the process involve? And What is the percentage per month of any breakdown, or total crash or missing data?

As the current level ii provider that I use, there are a few crashes, there has been at least 2 occasions that there is no level II data at all for a better half of the day due to crash. And I believe part of it is the way the data were sent.

It requires a lot of upload on each user's side. And my provider thinks that whenever there is screw up, all I should do is to ask my ISP to increase Upload bandwidth.

Unfortunately, they are ignorant in that regards. I'll never exceed the current bandwith of upload, and even if I increase it, it will benefit me for Multiple Upload Simultaneously on each site, not to a single provider. I spoke in details w/ my ISP senior tech. on that issue.

As I said, my current level II provider seems to complicate the way the data is delivered to each user, and due to that, causes a lot of screw up.

Which is why I ask the details of how level ii data are being delivered from esignal to each user.

I'm curious if NYMEX future Options is available at real time, shouldn't crude oil price be available at real price as well?

I'm talking about the "Oil price" tag at the bottom right corner of CNBC during the day.

I can view 20 min. delay oil price from INO.com, but I haven't check if they provide real time oil price either.

This page describes our network and its reliability. Regarding the specifics of the Level II data, you can actually see how the data is sent by looking at a level II window. The right-hand side is a scrolling ticker of the real-time updates as they come from our servers. Here's an image of this.

Most definitely. When you subscribe to the NYMEX exchange, you'll get all futures and future options available on that exchange. Here's a look at the option chain for Oct. Crude. Notice the real-time quote at the top of the window.

Jay, thank you again. I don't need to see the crude oil option put/call, as long as there is real time price, that's good enough for me. One minor question, does the software provides a way of plotting the real time price of oil on an intraday basis?

When I call that 1-800 esignal sales no. last week, whoever answer the phone said there is no real time price on oil, just oil option, which is why I posted that question.
