  • Backtesting Featue

    Using v7.3.

When I click "Test ", the backtesting feature is asking me to enter:-
"output file name or set up the auto file naming options"

THis is for the pre installed studies that are all ready in the Backtesting Folder and for any of my own studies.

    Help appreciated

    thx

ok figured out that I have to type in the same file name as the study..

I tried this with my own studies and the sstratagy analyser is coming back with 0 (zero) for everything..ie p/l no of trades..etcc

If i have a study that say draws an arrow when 2 ma cross, then by chosing this study to backtest it is buying when 2 ma cross up and selling when 2 ma cross down..

How can I change the details of closing the trade for the buy and the sell (ie profit target and stop loss)

    ??

    or a link..

    thx

      Hi Swan,

I want to pass along this link to our EFS Help Center & Library, where thers's information on the Back Testing feature. Not sure if you've seen this.

Click here for the EFS Help Center, down the left hand side you'll find the menu directing you to the Back Testing Guide. There's also a guide to the Formula Wizard if you're interested.

      Hope this helps.

      Regards,
      Andy

        Ths for reply.
I had checked out the link you gave.

Unless I'm miss-reading things it only gives an explination of the "results page" etc..

I'm trying to understand how I can actually set certain parameters, such as a stop loss and limit sell/buy and even the $dollar value per tick etc..

My present understanding is that I have to write an efs script as a study if you like, and then back test that study.?

Perhaps you could confirm this for me ??

At this point I'm still having truoble understanding how to write these esf scripts..

        thx
