  • Duplicate Prices - ver 6.0.1.1

Is anyone else having a problem with duplicate random prices on the quote sheet?

Two stocks listed after each other; the second one duplicates the price from the one above. This phenomen is not stock specific but random in nature.

    Resolution?

    Hi
    Yes same problems and more.
I wrote about them - See thread .............."Need help with Qcharts 6"
No ideas here and no solutions presented yet. I went back to using qcharts 5.0.0.3-1
Delayed accurate data (charts and prices) are better then the inacuracies I'm getting with qc6

This problem was very prevalent in our alpha builds, however it has subsided a lot. Its rare now that we can duplicate it in-house, but we've had a smattering of reports into our phone queues of this problem being MORE prevalent for some users.

We have yet to nail down a pattern to what may be causing this more for some and not much for others, so if you are seeing this issue often, please provide additional details as to what is being done just before he problem occurs. Including a workspace in your post (via eSignal File Share) may also help us in discovering what may be causing this to occur.

Our goal is to have this solved completely in our next major release.

        ------------------

All the issues I've mentioned ( thread -"need help with qcharts 6") are immediate on starting Qcharts 6. Doing nothing at all except for starting the program.
Prices are sometimes momentarily correct on the quote sheet but almost immediately prices volumes and symbols start messing up.
Volumes are for the most part never correct on the quote sheet.

The interval charts - example the 60 minute chart on the workspace image uploaded, always stop at 13:30 (1 1/2 hours before the close).

Often the quote sheet changes symbols. It particularly likes to change G-tc to FWR-vc. I can change fwr-vc back to g-tc, scroll down the page and then back up and g-tc will be again replaced with fwr-vc.

Quite often quote sheet prices and volumes (which are always wrong) will mix with its immediate quote sheet neighbour symbol (above or below), but just as often prices and volumes will migrate much further above or below location to different symbols on the quote sheet. The migration of price and symbols is not exchange specific. TC symbol price and volume will just as easily mix with VC smbols.

It is difficult to trade with qcharts 5 being so very slow (delayed data on free charts is often much faster) and qcharts 6 isuues, incorrect price/volume/ and intraday charts stopping everyday 1 1/2 hour too early.

I've been a qchart subscriber for many years and even used esignal charts for awhile. Qcharts had the features I wanted, but now I'm frustrated with all the problems. Hopefully they can be resolved in the next little while.

        Thanks again

            Duplicate Prices - more info

            FWIW -
I've noticed the dup pricing problem is greater at the market opening. After an hour or so, the problem diminishes.
It's almost like my computer can't keep up with the faster data stream. Refreshing the page doesn't help. Changing servers doesn't help. It's like once the price is there, it sticks. However, sometime later the prices are corrected, but then another pair of symbols are dup'd.

Could this be due to my single processor? Im using 1.6 MHZ, 1gb ram, XP os machine. I've recently upgraded to business class high speed internet with 18,000 kbps downloads but no difference from the old 4000 kbps internet service.

I'll try to observe more carefully next week and hopefully offer more information.

The problems start immediately and continue as long as the program is open. I've noticed that if I go to View/preferences/cleardown and alternatively change any of the settings on that page (buttons never clear fields or clear fields or market close or specific time or start of premarket or start of main session), then click ok, the quote sheet resets itself and you may momentarily see the right information in the quote sheet.

Thanks all for the info. Looks like we have three items discussed here. The main one, Duplicate Prices... for which the thread is titled, involves the collision of "threads" or tasks that QCharts is performing at any given time. This is occurring at the time that a workspace is loading and quotes begin to come in. To simplify it, the workspace loading thread is colliding with the quoting thread and is causing this strange behavior. We'll have this solved for the QCharts 6.1 release. cwaynes, I don't believe this is isolated to only having a single processor, but it may make it more likely to occur. Likewise opening a workspace during market hours, also may increase the chances of this occurring (more ticks coming through, higher chance of thread collision.)

The symbols physically changing on a Quote Window was believed to be an isolated issue. This is second report of such an event (to my knowledge,) and we haven't been able to duplicate this problem within our development environment. Once we are able to do this, we'll be able to track down the cause of the bug.

The hours of VC and TC symbols seems to have inadvertently changed in the latest MktHoursESignal.inf file. We'll get these corrected by the end of the week. Apologies for the error on that.

Here is another example of symbols changing on the quote sheet.
Occasionally rather then symbols duplicating, the symbol will remain but a "$" sign will appear infront of the symbol. The example below $mtx-vc loaded with the chart program right at the opening of the program this am (just prior to the market open).
