  • Indicator not the same in 5 & 6.0.3.1413

Hello, I loaded up the 6.0.3.1413 beta to play with 6.x more.

I am a WSB student so most should be able to reproduce or tell me why this is happening.

I only use 5.x now so my workspace is a 5.x workspace. I have one copy of 5.x and one copy of 6.0.3.1413 loaded up with the same exact workstation.

I was looking at WYNN on 6 and noticed the indicators were different on 5. I then switched both 5 and 6 to QQQQ and noticed the same thing. All charts are showing different indicators. Version 6 on the 55min way different indicators then version 5.

You will also notice that the candles are different. Version 5 shows a spinning top as the last candle, and version 6 shows a nice sized candle.

The Open and high are off as well.

Which charting program should I trust? Is version 5 correct or is version 6 correct? Does anyone else see this or is it just my system?

Does esignal approve the 6-beta's for trading yet or are they strictly a sandbox beta?

    Thanks,
    Matt

    Matt,

QC5.1 has been dropping about 80% of trade volume for quite some time now, so your Intraday Charts may/may not be accurate. Please be sure to look at symbols (especially those which gap on the open) and compare your Intraday Charts and you'll see some differences in open price.

QC6.0.xxx is still in Beta testing mode. Be sure to go to View/Preferences/Multi-Minute Bars and see two options (fast, sometimes inaccurate; and accurate but slow to populate.

Compare what performance these two settings provide in terms of chart accuracy and speed of chart fills.

Also, as you can see, the Indicators will sometimes be different between QC5 and QC6 - I notice this especially with the ADX.

All this to say, it's a good idea to compare your prices with your Broker or another independent source before putting money out there.

    Best of luck,
    Carol

      Matt,

One other thing - go over to the Beta Forums and take a look at other important items to watch for in the 6.0.xxx releases.

      fyi,
      Carol

Matt, I also use a WSB workspace.

I found that build 1413 has inconsistant candle open prices on the charts smaller than daily which skews the indicators. The multi-minute bars setting in the application preferences will also affect the indicators. If set to build bars from specified interval for fast charts the intraday chart candles will include after market hours trades and thus further skew the indicators.

I went back to build 1366 with the multi-minute bars set to build bars from the largest interval for more accurate charts and the indicators are consistant with what 5.x displays.

It looks like builds older than 1413 are not available for download. I would suggest trying the 6.0 build that is available for production download and see if your results are better. There are some other issues with that release but I think you'll find your indicators to be much closer to what 5.x displays.

        Regards

        Jim

Thanks for the info. I had no idea v5 has been having issue. Now I have something to blame my bad trades on ::grin::

What version are you using for your every day trading, what setting are you using for Multi-Minute bars and are there any other tricks?

I tried a few of the 6 betas and I stopped using them because I kept getting frequent lockups during trading hours. I have xp with 2gigs ram and I think I am going to upgrade to xp 64-bit with 8-gig ram since its so cheap. Hopefully that will solve my lockup issues.

Please let me know what you use and how your performance is. I would love to make this system perform better then it is.

          Thanks again,
          Matt

            Hey Matt,

I use 6.0.2 and it seems pretty consistent with other charting programs I use (either with the same data feed or a different one.)

My preference is 6.0.2 because it works for me. It occasionally pauses (not requiring a restart or anything) and it eventually recovers but the data keeps flowing in. The QC6 data feed is actually very good. The problem comes in when QC software tries to display the data. Also, I don't tax it too much (don't change symbols much if at all during the day.)

I just don't trust any beta version past 6.0.2 and if the latest beta is the last beta to be released, I am not sure I would trust the next production version either. It seems to me that each beta after 6.0.2 has gotten worse and worse in terms of both accuracy and stability. The regression to previous bugs implies no control over the development process (code locking or change control, system testing, regression testing, etc, etc).

I have multi-minute bars in 6.0.2 with the first two boxes ticked and the third box not ticked. This setting is specific to 6.0.2 as far as I know. The latest beta doesn't have that many options. I won't say it is accurate but it seems to be good enough.

            Trade well!
            Tom
