Update:

We continue to get sporadic reports of brief delays and bursting data. Today's market open was particularly busy. Here's where we stand:

We successfully deployed eight additional high-end servers last night but saw only limited improvements as the impact of the additional capacity was offset by even higher message rates on all US Equities. The systems that are handling the incoming US Equity feeds are the primary stress point currently so we are modifying the configuration of each one to improve trade processing and timeliness.

We are also in the process of tiering those front-end servers so they handle less incoming data (removing US futures feeds for ex) so our front end servers will be more dedicated to specific sub-sets of exchanges, thereby significantly reducing the load on each. We expect to see improved performance through out the day due to the configuration changes plus longer-term improvements as the tiering rolls out into production in the coming days/weeks.

Update 2:

The first roll-out of configuration changes and new tiering was in place roughly 60 minutes before market close. We are pleased to report that performance during the close was quite improved over market open this morning. Further tiering for additional server pools will continue this evening in preparation for tomorrow's market open.
