How many symbols I can pull out?

I have no problems in collecting ticks for up to 500 symbols thru WinRos DDE. My attempts to use ActiveX for this purpose failed so far - datafeed works smoothly with 100 symbols, may work from several minutes to half an hour with 200 symbols, but with 500 symbols eSignal hangs almost immediately.
Does anybody have any experience in collecting ticks with ActiveX for that "large" amount of symbols?

If you are only interested in the current prices, DDE will be more efficient. ActiveX runs into performance issues because you are able to retrieve intra-day data.
