  • end of day 20, 50 and 200 day mvg. avg.

I follow various industries and stocks on any given day. Is it possible to print out a end of day summary spread sheet for 20, 50 and 200 day moving averages for 50 stocks that I follow. Currently, I have to change the moving average on on daily basis manually on a excel spread sheet that I have created. Since this is time consuming and my stock watchlist may change daily is it possible through your data export function(excel) or desktop API to create a four column spreadsheet (sym, 20day, 50 day, 200 day) that I can print out in the evening prior to the next day of trading. I am currently utilizing your Advanced Get and Advanced charting funtions, but would like these symbols and mvg. avgs. at my finger tips instead of going through each individual chart many times through out the day. I have been a trader for over 6 years now and transferring mvg. avg.#'s from your system to a maual spread sheet that has become extremely time consuming.

Thank you very much for your input and solutions.

    Hello Dan,

Yes, you should be able to accomplish this task with the Desktop API.

However, I have an alternative solution you may want to consider that utilizes DDE and EFS. First, you would create an EFS study that creates the three moving averages and sends those values to your spreadsheet through DDE. You would then create a layout or page in eSignal with your 50 Advanced Charts, which would all be running the EFS. When you need to print your report, you would first open up that page in eSignal to populate the 50 charts and establish the DDE links from the EFS. Then open your spreadsheet, update the current values and print. The only manual process you would need to perform is when you update your symbol list. You would of course update the spreadsheet symbol column and DDE formulas and then enter the new symbols in the Advanced Charts of your eSignal page.

For more on EFS, please see our EFS KnowledgeBase.
Here's a link to our DDE Object reference with a detailed code example.
