  • How to create EMS format file

I have a program that communicates with eSignal via the API. I develop a set of symbols (tickers) that I am interested in viewing in advanced charts. I know how to change the current symbol in eSignal, but would rather create a file that can be opened as a symbol list in an advanced chart. I have looked at the EMS files but they appear to have special characters in the front of and between the ticker symbols.

    Thank you.

    Hello wscully,

You could have your program create a text file containing the list and use that list as a Dynamic Quote File. Please see this post by Duane for instructions on how to set this up. Your quote window could then be linked to an Advanced Chart so that all you would have to to is click on the symbol in the quote window and that symbol would get loaded into the chart.

Thank you for the suggestion. It works well and meets my needs. Possibly the developers could, someday, offer the same capability to load a symbol file directly into an advanced chart.

      Thanks again.
