How to detect a dropped network?

Hi,

I have a pretty serious problem that I'm looking for a solution. When eSignal loses connectivity (due to a bad internet connection in this case), the API doesn't throw any exceptions or fire any events letting me know of the condition. The real problem is that IsTickerValid(...) starts just returning false for all tickers!

Does anyone know a reliable way to detect lost network connectivity?

Bummer.. looks like esignal.com blocks ICMP packets.

Does anyone know of a way to know if the remote system is reachable?
