  • Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition

    Hi,
    I am about to undertake a Desktop API Development effort and would like to use the Visual C++ 2005 Express Edition. I understand that eSignal does not officially support VS2005, but then I am not too keen on having to spend $500+ on an outdated VS2003 or Visual Studio 6.0 environment when there is a free 2005 version out there (I would settle for the 2003 Express Version but it is no longer available).

    What are the pitfalls of using Visual C++ 2005 with the Desktop API? What is the level of risk?

    I do have an old Visual C++ 5.0 version. Is that a viable option?

    Thanks,
    Robert

    Hi Robert,

    Visual Studio 2005 is not supported due to problems we have found with .NET 2.0. Various problems have occurred, the most common being System Call Errors.

    You are welcome to try it, as long as you have an understanding that we cannot provide assistance with it.
