  • backtest interval

Could somebody please tell me why I get differents results
when I backtest the same formula with the chart displaying
    differents intervals?

    Example:
Running the formula when the chart is on the 15 min interval
and running the same formula with the chart on 240 min interval

    have a great day,

    Jaime

    Three reasons.

    1. The foruula will likely generate different signals and thus a different number of trades on the different charts. Check the trades tab on the backtester report. You should see that the dates/times of the trades were different on the different timeframes.

    2. You go further back in time with the 240 min interval. If you have 100 bars on your chart, that equates to 15*100 minutes using the 15 minute interval, but 240*100 minutes when using the 240 interval.

    3. Where you buy/sell will likely be different on the different intervals. Again, check the trades tab to see what prices you buy/sell at.
