  • Auto-Backtest?

Hi. I've successfully completed my backtesting strategy script and running it against various symbols works fine.

However there are several parameters to the script and I was wondering if there was any automated way to submit backtest runs with various permutations of these parameters instead of tediously doing it manually?

I understand that there are a number of eSignal plugin scripts for sale that claim to "optimize" their strategies for particular symbols entered, & I was wondering if they are using some facility that I was not aware of.

Separately from this, in my backtest results, the Graphs tab always shows blank. (Actually, a box with an "x" in it.) What would be causing this? Everything else seems fine.

Finally, what are the xml output files generated by backtesting used for?

    Thanks,

    - Ian

    Hello Ian,

The eSignal application does not have an optimizing feature for back testing at this time. Any third party company that has an optimization routine has created their own custom solutions.

Regarding the red "x" in the graphs tab, what version of eSignal are you currently using? Have you tried a reinstall yet?

The xml files contain the data from the back tests that is used to populate the Strategy Analyzer report.
