Open interst

Hi I am trying to develop an open interest study that would be displayed as a horizontal line in the volume study, rather than as bars, separately. How would I create such a study?

The attached efs will plot both the Open Interest (as a line) and Volume. The efs was not written using the Formula Wizard but it can be done with that tool also.

Hello TraderJen,

You need to run the study on a daily chart of a futures or commodity symbol. Open interest is not available on intraday intervals.

In addition to Jason's reply note that future or commodity symbols with an extension (such as ES #F=2 or CL Z5=2. etc) do not have any Open Interest.

I should also have clarified I want to use this efs for stocks; does the same also apply - that it will work only on the daily chart?

Stocks do not have Open Interest. Only futures, commodities and options have Open Interest
