  • Average of Absolute value

I am trying to write a formula - Average of Absolute value of an oscillator. Average should be exponential with length and backshift option.

Is it possible in studies, what about return points?

    Appreciate the sample.

    Thanks,

    Greg.

I thought this would work, but it does not. Attached is what I have so far, but the EMA isn't reflecting the absolute value of the Osc.

Anyone else know of a method to do this, without having to manually calculate the EMA? Is there even a way to do this in the Formula Wizard?

This one isn't possible with the wizard as you can't pass the absolute value of the price oscillator study to the MA study as the price source.

This would require a custom formula, which you can download below. The formula has four parameters that can be changed via "Edit Studies."

EMA Length - Default is 10
nFastLength - Default is 21 (Price Osc Study)
nSlowLength - Default is 10 (Price Osc Study)
      nOffset - Default is 0
