  • Formula Wizard in next 7.2 Beta/4 Release

The Formula Wizard is getting a bit of a minor makeover for the 7.2 Beta/4 release. Less emphasis on the alerts, and the addition of a preMain() configuration dialog to help you sort out all the different line and plot styles for returning values from your EFS.

You should be able to use the FW now to plot your own data, color price bars, color the background, plot images, text, etc...

If you have any other suggestions or tweaks to make the FW easier to use, and have not already posted them, please do so now so that we get enough time to test everything before the next beta release.

    Thanks!

    Alerts are Core Priority

Don't back-off development of alerts. That should be a core priority. As it is now, the alert capability and practical functionality in eSignal is next to unusable. Maybe there's more there under the surface, but you can't possibly expect users to all become expert programmers in order to reveal it.

The user can now express market information in a million ways on a chart, but unless the user is an academic, what we really want to know is when to buy and sell. You've enabled the user to create an elaborate display of market information, but left the user alone to monitor and interpret without equivalently elaborate alerts assistance. I have a set criteria for buys and sells, but it beats me how to put complex criteria and multiple time-frames into a program and get alerts on that criteria. Even for simple criteria, signals pass unannounced because alerts are incapable of reporting the event, or are too clumsy to be functionally useful.

This is eSignal right? Well, where are the "signals"? Where's the alerts configuration interface? (and I don't mean the little bell on the toolbar) Market data is the steak, and buy/sell alerts are the sizzle. Sell the sizzle.

      Thanks for your comments Lancer.

Reworking the current alerts are definitely in the bigger picture, and the Formula Wizard will be a part of that. This rework was too large of a job given the time constraints for v7.2, however, we have a good start with the Formula Wizard, which was designed from the start for integration into a new alerts system in a future version.

      Thanks!
