  • Keltner channel w/multipler constant

I am trying to modify the keltner channel bands with the following:

8 bar moving average with a multiplier constant of 1.3% (upper keltner) and 1.3% (lower keltner). I found the following EFS in the forums (see attachment) but the keltner bands are too large way above and below the market prices.

Do I have the right EFS for what I am trying to do? I appreciate any help.

    Thank you

You do have the right efs. In the following image notice the price of the basis line on the last bar which is at 10117.30. Add 1.3% of that value to the basis line and you will get 10248.82; subtract 1.3% and the result is 9985.77 which are the values for the corresponding upper and lower bands.

The reason the bands appear too wide on your charts could be because you are using lower intervals where the range is much smaller. Try lowering the multiplier to a lesser value such as for example 0.13%.
FYI you can find some other Keltner studies here
