  • Simple bar patterns idea

Hi, I don't think this is currently in eSignal or any efs but please correct me if I'm wrong.

I noticed that eSignal does not have any bar pattern identification yet and this could be a simple yet effective tool.

I'm talking about having a built-in tool that can identify certain patterns like "key reversal bars", "snap-back reversal bars", "railway tracks" (has other names) and other various price action patterns.

I'm not sure how difficult it would be to code this stuff in. Don't think it's too difficult. Just thought I would make a suggestion for a potentially useful feature.

I once coded something very simplistic for Metastock and it would draw arrows for potential noteworthy bar patterns after a user definable "trend" period where "trend" is defined by how many bars of a rising market.

This is how it looks using my metastock expert... the "trend" period for swings can be customized but I didn't bother to adapt it to this chart. It's just a rough idea for something that I thought could be useful for eSignal users. Please do remember that my coding here is very crude and so may not be the best one to judge with. I'm not looking for something like that actually. Simple paint bars or something that highlight the patterns would be useful in itself.
