  • Monitoring multiple symbols for alerts

New the esignal and EFS so forgive my ignorance.

Just learning EFS but am developing a strategy that will generate text and sound alerts, but I wish to monitor these alerts across a basket of up to 50 stocks at once. Can this be done through the eSignal platform?

    eagertogo,

At this point in time, alerts are tied to individual symbols. Single alerts are not available for multiple symbol criteria even with EFS coding. You may want to send the suggestion to the Product Development Team at [email protected]. Thanks for the question.

OK, maybe I'm not making myself clear. You say there is no facility to monitor multiple symbol criteria. Is there a work around for this? If I apply a single strategy that generates an alert once a condition is satisfied on a single symbol, would I be right in supposing that the chart of that symbol would need to be opened with the strategy applied. In what manner would that alert be manifest? If I wanted to monitor say 50 different stocks symbols with that strategy applied, would I need all the 50 symbols charts opened at the same time? and if so (and I'm sure I'm not the only user who has applied the same strategy over multiple symbols) can you suggest a way to organise layouts or how do other users organise their layouts?

      Hope this make sense.

You are correct. To be more specific the chart needs to be open in the Page/Layout that is active at that time with the efs loaded in it and running. The chart however can be minimized.

In what manner would that alert be manifest?

That depends on what event the alert is set to trigger. It can be a sound, a popup window, an email, a change in the background color of the chart, etc. In the case of the popup window this could contain the information regarding the symbol, interval and event that triggered the alert

If I wanted to monitor say 50 different stocks symbols with that strategy applied, would I need all the 50 symbols charts opened at the same time?

        Yes you would
