I would like to create a study in 7.8 that will plot the tick volume in a line chart and not a bar that's similiar to volume.efs but will not return a value from a previous time period when there's no update or will instead record a zero when there's no update. For example, in the SP Z5 one minute interval advanced chart there's no data for several minutes, and I would like to have a study that will record a zero on a line chart just like the volume.efs study. Can you please help me make the that adjustment in the volume.efs code.

As I indicated in this reply to you if there is no activity in a period eSignal does not plot a bar for that period hence you cannot have zero volume by definition. The minimum value for volume (or tick volume) will be 1.
Regardless the volume.efs you are referring to is not returning the volume of the prior bar but only that of the current bar.

But how can I plot a study that will return a zero value using a line chart one minute interval. So that when there's no data in the SP Z5, the line study will record a zero for the volume for that time period using 7.8

Unless I am misunderstanding what you are asking you cannot do that because eSignal does not plot an empty "space" when there is no trading activity in a period.
