  • All time frames averages

Is there a .efs that will plot the average of an average on all the timeframes that is used? With other words : it will plot the average of the 200 MA (simple) of the 2 hour, 60 min, 20 min, 10 and 5 on the say the 5 min screen?

If so please let me know

    Pietergey,

I have not heard of this or seen an EFS posted similar to this. You may want to post this as a suggested study under the "New Study Suggestion" forum.

      This can be accomplished...

      The trick to this is...

      (To make things easier)....

You will probably want to use a 5 minute chart...

      1. Plot the 200 bar avg on the 5 minute chart (simple).
      2. Plot the 400 bar avg of the 5 minute chart (= your 10 min avg).
      3. Continue like this to get the averages you require...

Maybe Jason K can chime in with an easier solution. He probably knows how to do this easier..

        Multiple timeframe average average

        Hello there

Thank you for the suggestion. But a multiple timeframe average of the same average in in each of those timeframes is not the same as what you suggested. If you do the math you will see that.

I do not want the 200 Ave of the 10min on the 5 min (with other words the 400 ave on the 5 min), I want the AVE of the 10 min 200 and the 5 min 200 on the 5 min graph.

          Hello Pietergey,

Well, here it is. I have to warn you, this formula is not very CPU friendly and takes quit a bit longer than an average formula to load, but it works.

            Multiple MA efs

            Hallo Jasonk

Thank you very much this must have taken ages. (This is set at 200 MA simple?).

I have quite a mean machine CPU so that should not be a problem.

I have loaded your .efs and it doesnt show on my charts. What am I doing wrong?

            Can you help?

Is your chart set to a 5 min interval?
In reading the notes in the efs it appears to be interval specific.

                Multiple ma efs

                Hallo Alex

Yes my timeframe is 5 min. But when I load it it says "MultipleIntervalMas.efs line 81: The Symbol Limit (3) for a formula has been exeeded"

Kan we solve this problem and still retain the basic formula as it is? By the way is it possible to program it in such a way that one can choose the length of the Ma?

Thanx for all the help: One of these days I will also be able to help I hope

That error message suggests that you are running an older version of eSignal that limits the symbols that can be used in an efs to 3.
You may want to upgrade to ver 7.3 (build 588) that allows for a higher number of symbols (I believe 5).
FWIW the upgrade is worthwhile irrespective of the issue you are having with this efs.

                    Hello Pietergey,

Yep, you'll need to upgrade as Alex mentioned. The MAs are simple and set at 200 bars for each. I'm planning on making another version of this that will be customizable as far as the number of MA lines, period length etc. I'll post a message here when I have that ready.
