  • Tall Shadow and Long Tail candlesticks

    Whats up Wayne,

    It's your old buddy Spyder....how are you?
    How is your trading going? Very well I assume?

    If you don't mind my asking, I would like your help with an EFS that identifies certain candlesticks within a chart.

    Specifically I'm looking to identify tall shadows and long tails (bullish and bearing candlesticks with VERY long wicks).

    So far I've only been able to identify them as percentages.....meaning that a tall shadow candle has an upper wick that is 65% or more of the entire body of the candle (and a long tail has a lower wick that is 60% of the entire body.

    Do you have any EFS code that you can send my way? Or any ideas on where else for me to look?

    Mathematically speaking, I also identified them as follows:

    **Tall Shadow candlesticks:
    ((Open - Low) / (High - Low)) >= 0.65

    **Long Tail candlesticks:
    ((High - Open) / (High - Close)) >= 0.65

    Please let me know.
    Thanks!!

    Hi Spyder,

    Glad you are doing well.

    I'm sorry to say I don't.

    I haven't used it so I don't know what it does but I understand that there is a candlestick identifier efs at:

    I haven't heard of any other eSignal efs/program that identifies candlesticks.

    If I come across something I'll let you know.

    Hopefully someone else might have more on this and is willing to respond.

    Good luck.

    Wayne
