Getting Up and Down Volume

Is there a way to get the UP and DOWN volume separately instead of getting the total volume via volume()?

I believe esignal has unique volume symbols. I know of UVOL and DVOL, but you might spend some time reviewing the symbol guide to learn more.

That gives me the total up and down volume for the exchange.

Is there a way to get the up and down volume for a single bar for the stock or future I am charting? For example, the total volume for IBM was 1M shares on the 60 minute bar, 550K Up and 450K Down volume.

no, there is no symbol to call or simple solution for this that I know of. You might try searching these forums because I've seen some code in the past that calculated the up/down volume based on tick action. The problem with this is it only works in realtime - not historical data.

Someone else might know of a better solution.
