  • PivotPointsAll.efs enhancements

I'm requesting enhancements to the Pivotpointsall.efs if it one or both are possible.

Here is background. The calculations are fine, it is the display I'd like enhanced. The first problem is that no pivots display until the first bar comes in on the new day. Once that happens, it is difficult to see the pivots until you have a few bars (5-10, for example) because the pivots are only drawn as the bars come in. The second issue is that you don't know what the pivots will be the next day. So you have to manually calculate the night before or the morning before open in order to plan your strategy. You shouldn't have to do this with a powerful program like this.

    So the two enhancements are:

    1. extend pivot lines X bars into the future beyond the current bar. X can be user programmable, say with a default of 10

    2. Upon the "end of the trading day", immediately draw the next day's pivots into the next day, say by the number of default bars from #1 above. The "end of tradign day" is set by the user's time template.
If you can't draw the next day's pivots X bars because the program doesn't have the next day's time periods yet, then just draw the pivots as lines extending to infinity. Then the next day drop the infinite lines and replace with above.

Can this be done and if so can someone take a crack at it? If it has already been done please point me to the efs.

    Thanks

If you attached the Pivotpointsall.efs file you are using, I will see if I can figure out how to do what you need.

    Sounds do-able to me.

      dloomis,
the efs file is the standard one in all eSignal builds.

Right Click on any Advanced Chart, then it is in
      Formulas/Pivots/PivotPointsAll.efs

Thanks for giving it a crack.

        Here is the first step...

If you want to shift the chart to the left, right click, Properties, Right MArgin Offset 10.

I will work on step 2 later.

Let me know if this is what you had in mind.

dloomis, this just puts more white (or grey or whatever color you like) space between the last bar and the scale. However, the pivot lines don't draw any further than the last bar. So this doesn't buy you anything, except that if you have an enhanced pivot efs as I am looking for you will need to do this in order to see the lines. If this is what you meant, o.k. , I'm with you.

dloomis, I replied from my email client prior to actually viewing your post on this board where I see you have provided an efs.

I tried the efs and yes, today's pivots extend into the future indefinately. But they also extend backwards into the past indefinately. That is a bit of a problem.

            Waiting for part 2.
