  • Force Index Alarm

    Hello One-and-All,

I have one last request. I have attached the code for Alexander Elders Force Index. Would it be possible if one of you guys could tweak the code so that it alarms when the Force Index goes below 0?

    Thanks a lot you guys.

    Cheers

The attached efs implements the revision you asked.
It will sound one ding only the first time that the Slow Avg crosses under 0. This will happen even if at the close of the bar the Slow Avg may close above 0. If you want it to happen only at the close of a bar then the section that triggers the alert would have to be written in a slightly different way.
I have also slightly edited the original code to correct for a drift in the indicator (you will notice the error in the original if you do a Reload of the study after it has been running in real time for a while).
All modifications and additions to the efs are commented.

Here is the version of Force Index (without alerts) corrected for the drift error.
In the image below the original plot is on top and the modified one on the bottom and both efs have been running for a while in real time. After a Reload the one on top will plot the same as the modified one.

          Force Index Slow or Fast?

          Gentlemen,
I want to thank you for putting the formula together for the Force Index, however I was confused about the EMA that is attached to the formula. What is the value of the EMA? I am trying to download the force index with a 13 period (weekly & daily) smoothed average. I am also looking for the force index with a 2 period (weekly & daily) smoothed average. Would you please give some advice as to how I can go about this? I am not familiar with the esignal formula language and could really use your help.

          Thank you very much.
