upticks downticks

trying to create efs code to determine Upticks & Downticks (see definition below) on a standard bar chart using say 5 minute interval.

Current live bar is no problem as I can count the ticks but historically ... any ideas?

UpTicks e.g. returns 5 if there were 5 ticks on a bar whose value was higher than the tick immediately preceeding it.

DownTicks e.g. 5 if there were 5 ticks on a bar whose value was lower than the tick immediately preceeding it.

This is going to be tough..

There is no way to get this information on historical data..

Bottom line is that it can't be accomplished.
