  • Volume Weighted Moving Average

I noticed that on Standard Chart - Interval, you can get a volume weighted moving average, but on a regular advanced chart you cannot.

Does someone have a formula for this ??

Also, is there anyway to make the volume moving average to an exponential moving average ??

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Eva,

You can set your moving averages to Volume Weighted in the Advanced Chart window as well. You will need to go into the "Edit Studies" menu for the MA (moving average) in question. Simply change the option to Volume Weighted as illustrated below. You can also set the MA to exponential from this window as well. Hope this helps.

Actually, I was looking for a VWMA for the oscillator section on the charts.

Would you also be able to tell me how to get a moving average in the oscillator window ??

      Thanks in advance.

      E.A.

        Eva,

Are you meaning to say that you would like to see a Volume Weighted Moving Average in it's own Study Pane? Here's what I think what you are wanting.

Attached is an EFS that should take care of this for you.

Also, to answer your question... can you make a VWMA of an EMA, yes you can. In fact, please use the attached EFS (courtesy of Alexis C. Montenegro), and use Edit Studies to change any parameters that you need.

I take that back. You cannot have a VWMA of an EMA, because the EMA itself has no volume. My screenshot below was an EMA of a VWMA, which is possible.
