testing network status in EFS?

Is there a function within EFS to determine or test the esignal network status? I.e. if it is connected or not? The equivalent of looking at the two OK messages on the status bar in esignal I suppose?

I want to test network status and send an SMS message if the program has lost connectivity if possible.

We don't have the ability to programmatically check the network status from within an EFS.

EFS formulas only execute when the advanced chart is receiving data updates from the chart activity, which can only occur if the network status is OK.

The only thing I can think of that you could do is send an email from an EFS say every X minutes. If you stop receiving emails emails after the X minute interval has passed you could assume you've lost connection. However, this may not be that reliable depending on your email service.
