Change Symbol

I would like change the symbol in an efs study dynamically by reading a file and changing the bar-chart to the new symbol.

What coding would I need to get the chart to change symbols and load the new chart ?.

The ability to dynamically change the chart symbol through EFS does not exist currently. Feel free to submit a suggestion for this feature to [email protected].

What if I use a dummy symbol, and then use another symbol to create the outputs I want.

For example to do a moving average study on a different symbol which can be dynamically changed. Is this possible ?. If so, what coding would I use (I'm still learning).

I'm more interested in the maths than the appearance of the chart, in fact I don't even have to look at the chart.

Hello Mike2,

You can access the prices of external symbols by passing the desired symbol to the getValue() calls. Note, however, there is a symbol limit of 7. Once you try to get prices for an 8th symbol within a single EFS, the formula will error out.

ex.
getValue("close", "IBM");
close(0, "IBM");
