  • EFS2 Data Series vs Instance of a Data Series

    1. EFS2 Documentation for data series can be interpreted that we can access/retrieve an instance of a data series, say, rsi(14, close(), -5), without having the entire data series of rsi(14) generated, thus avoing the overhead associated with generating a data series.
Can anyone please confirm that this is the case? If the answer is "yes" are the any examples available, because what I tried ends up in generating the entire data series.

    2. If the answer to first question is "yes", does this apply to custom data series as well?

    Thank you.

No, that is not the case. When you do rsi(14, close(), -5) (the close() is not necessary by the way, as it's the default), the entire RSI series will be generated and kept running in the background.

If you ever need to retrieve an rsi(14, close()) at any time during the run of your EFS though, it will not be generated, and instead use the values from the already-created RSI study.

This applies to custom data series as well.

      Dion thank you,

It is what I expected to be the case. Maybe someone can make these clarifications in the Help File [that the entire series will be generated, first time it is accessed].
