  • Calculation of accumulation/distribution indicator

How is the accumulation distribution basic study calculated? I'm seeing different results to what i expect based on the formula in other packages ( e.g. NeoTicker ) and also based on formula in the book "Technical Analysis from A to Z"

I believe it is the same calculation that you can find in the AccDist.efs that is in the Library folder. As far as I can see the script matches the equation shown in "Technical Analysis from A to Z"

Thanks Alexis. Yes you're right, i looked at the eSignal code and it's the same as the equation in the book. Not sure what equation they're using in NeoTicker.

When making comparisons make sure that you are loading the same amount of data (or that the indicator begins calculating from the same point) as Accumulation/Distribution uses a cumulative sum in its calculations. Different starting points will return different values (even though the shape of the plot will be similar)

Yes i thought about that. I setup both with 5 days of data and same time settings ( 9.30am to 4.15pm )

It's a shame the equation isn't exposed as it is in eSignal so i could dig around and see if there are differences.
