I am in the Central Time Zone & have Formula>Pivot Point All on a lot of charts. I have been aware of this problem for several years & now I am curious as to whether it's a bug or a normal function of Esignal: If you leave Esignal open 24 hrs/day, the PP calculations are incorrect. In other words, if I leave Esignal open past Midnight, they are incorrect (they readjust at midnight) & I need to shut down Esignal & re-open. Just reloading the Pivots does not work.

I would like to leave Esignal open nonstop, as I employ a lot of Formulas & it takes several minutes to open!

    Thanks in advance!!

    Hello AOF,

I tested this scenario last night on a 24-hour time template of ES #F. The pivots readjusted properly without intervention. What symbol and time template settings are you using when you see this problem?

Thanks! it does not matter the timeframe, but see below:

Hopefully, the Snapshot will appear. I will leave ESIG open past Midnight & re-boot tomorrow & post the difference. I use different timeframes & templates for different charts.

        Hello AOF,

Please capture 3 snapshots. 1- Before midnight, 2-After midnight (before reboot) and 3- After Midnight (after reboot). That would be very helpful. I'll test 6E U5, 5-minute chart tonight as well.

Are you currently using our latest 7.9.1 version?

                      Hello AOF,

Thanks for the snapshots. I saw the same thing on 6E U5 as well. Not sure what the source of this problem is yet, but I will continue to investigate.

Thanks! It's not just 6e. Every Futures contract I use does the same thing, including ES. I help moderate an Internet Trading room, which has a considerable amount of Esignal users. It happens to all of them, also. I have made it clear to trhem that if they leave Esig open overnight, they must reboot. Pivot Points are one of the common formulas we use.

                        Thanks again!

                          Hello AOF,

Here's the problem. For any futures contract that has a session that crosses your local midnight, the daily bar that the pivots are based on does not contain the correct OHLC data at your local midnight. This happens because the process of creating the new daily bar does not have enough time to complete at the first tick after the midnight cross. The formula you are using is updating only at the first tick after the midnight cross. At that moment the daily bar the formula is looking at is a composite bar that has the current session's data appended to yesterday's daily bar, which creates the incorrect pivots. Development is aware of this problem and is already exploring some possible solutions. Hopefully this problem will be corrected in one of the upcoming versions. The PivotPointAll.efs that you are currently using works fine for any symbol that does not contain the midnight cross during its session. The solution is to use a pivot formula that updates on each tick. The pivots will still be calculated incorrectly at the midnight cross until the new daily bar has been established, then the formula will correct itself. Alex has coded one that will work for you. Please visit this thread and download PivotPointAll2.efs.
