auto-fetching historical data

Hi,

I have an advanced chart and some studies embedded. How do I get the chart to auto-load historical data?

I've noticed that if I open a separate window for $TICK and scroll back in time, the data appears and subsequently gets updated in my original study where I want the data to be loaded.

You do that through the use of Time Templates. You can set these up to load a specific number of bars or days for any given interval. To do that right click on a chart and select TimeTemplates->Edit...
Once you have set up your Time Templates you can call them up by right clicking a chart and selecting Time Templates->your templatename
