  • 1 min 12:45 close != 5 min 12:45 close?

    1 min 12:45 close != 5 min 12:45 close, WHAT GIVES?

    Seems like just when I think I understand a little more, I understand less!!

    What's the reason the 1 min 12:45 close is not equal the 5 min 12:45 close?

    One is $73.85 and the other is $73.88!

    I triple checked my time timeplates and they are identical.

    One chart is a 5 minute RIMM and the other is a 1 minute RIMM.

    How I discovered this was I was testing my TRO_IND2a study.

    And I didn't realize that when it is on a 5 minute chart it is only going to process every 5 minutes even if you set it to process 1 minute interval data. Of course, that should have been obvious!!

    So as I was debugging, I discovered the closing prices at 12:45 did not match!

    SO MUCH TO LEARN, SO MUCH TO LEARN!!

      Times do not coinside!

      Hi Avery,

      I had this same question a while back and called support for an answer. In my case, I was trying to figure out why the closing price on a 5 minute chart on my computer was not the same 5 minute closing price a trading buddy also using eSignal had on his computer.

      In effect, I was seeing one thing and he was seeing another!

      The way it was explained to me is that eSignal uses multiple servers to stream data to all their clients. Because of this, servers can be OFF a few ticks difference from each other.

      It's just a matter of timing and switching between time frames that can result in getting data from a different server.

      I don't think your code is the issue.

        Thanks but...

        I don't think I would be getting data from 2 different servers at the same time... now I could be mistaken.

        I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

          Hello Avery,

          The problem you are describing that occurs between two series based on different intervals is a known issue. Development is aware of it and it should be fixed in one of the upcoming releases. Hopefully 8.1.

          OpaBert, the problem you are describing is different. It is possible for two users to be connected to different servers, which can have slightly different data.
