  • addEntitlement code?

I noticed that the api had changed for the addEntitlement method. It says it now can take a "code provided by eSignal". What exactly is this code?

    From the EFS KnowledgeBase:

code (provided by eSignal) or fully-qualified URL to text file containing valid user names

    Hello mazachan,

The entitlement code is a fixed string that is used by our system to validate a users account entitlements internally rather than through a text file on a web server. The entitlement codes are used by add-on study partners that resell their subscription formulas through our system.

Ah.. so you have to be an eSignal software partner in order to be able to use it then?

        Hello mazachan,

Anyone can use the function that maintains their own list of usernames they wish to entitle the formula for through a text file. However, you do need to be a partner to get an eSignal issued entitlement code.

          eSignal Partner

Thanks for the reply, I have developed a few trade management tools that I currently have subscribers for. I've directed them all to use eSignal. As the subscription base grows, I am finding it rather tedious to keep sending the subscribers updates monthly.

I would much rather have a list of authorized users and manage the licenses through eSignal.

How do I become a partner so that I can obtain an entitlement code?

          Regards,
          Ryan.

            Hello Ryan,

We are no longer issuing internal entitlement codes for add-on studies. The entitlements need to be handled by your list of authorized usernames maintained in a text file stored on your web server. You would not need to send updates to your end users each month. You would only need to send them a new formula if you update the code logic. As far as the entitlement goes, if a particular user is no longer an authorized subscriber, you would simply remove their username from your text file and the user would not be able to run the study any longer.

You might want to check out MENT Enablement (www.efs-tools.com). I developed it because I had subscribers to my esignal products and wanted an easier way to manage them.

if you have any questions, let me know?
