In a tick chart, is each tick a bar?

Question about ticks and bars.

If the interval is 1t, does each tick count as a bar with NEWBAR set?

If the interval is 20t, is NEWBAR set every 20th tick? is the chart updated in the same bar for each of the 20 ticks or is the chart only updated on the 20th tick?

Hi jgr,

I believe that on a 1T chart each tick is a bar. NEWBAR I believe is always set on the first tick of the new bar. So on a 20T chart, each bar would be comprised of 20T and the NEWBAR would be set on the 21st tick, 41st tick, 61st tick, etc.

jg,

I did a test and what I found agrees with what you state. On 20t for instance there is a bar every 20 ticks and NEWBAR is set on every bar. It is not processing main for each tick within the 20.
