error: formula limit of 7

I am getting the error when running my efs:

The Symbol Limit(7) for a formula has been exceeded.

Now I need to utilise more than 7 symbols in my formula. Is there a way of doing this? Or worst case can I close a symbol after I get the data out I want so I can keep no more than 7 symbols open at a time?
