  • Parabolics on Currencies don't work

Could someone tell me what needs to be done in order to get the standard Parabolics to work on currencies.

Note: I use 5 min charts and the standard parabolic settings.

    Bruce

P.S. I did post this in another tread, so sorry for multiple posts.

      Hello Bruce,

I'll try to figure out what's happening here.
What is the symbol in the chart you're using?
Which specific study are you using? Is it the built-in Parabolic SAR or an EFS formula? If it's an EFS, please post a copy of it here.

        Jason:

Any of the currencies will do (I mostly use 6e z3 or ec z3).

I do use a study (attached) but the standard study also doesn't work.

        Thanks.

          Jay:

I was wondering if you had any luck with my parabolic problem (on currencies).

If you could you give me an idea if this is a quick fix or if it might take some time to resolve.

For what it's worth, we have recorded this in our bug database. Since we are late in the beta on this one, it's likely not fixable until 7.6 (early '04).

              Jay:

How difficult would it be to create a EFS study to calculate the Parabolics?

                Jay:

If you don't mind this is just a friendly reminder to see if there is anything that can/will be done in the near future in resolving the Parabolic problem when its placed on currencies.

                Thanks for all your help.

                  Bruce,

This can't be addressed at least until our next version, which is due out Q1, 2004. Since it's still 3-4 months before that release, I can't say with much accuracy whether or not this will be included.

                    Jay:

Is there anyway a parabolic indicator could be written in a efs study that would work on currencies?

I've had to resort to using tradestation for currencies and I MUCH prefer eSignal.

                    Bruce

P.S. I've tried the basicparabolis efs study and it also does not work on currencies.

The reason that EFS doesn't work is that it's just using the built-in objects, which is the same as using the built-in studies. In order to create a Parabolic EFS that would work on currencies, it would need to be hard-coded (a difficult task, but not beyond the reach of EFS.)

                        Bruce,

Great to see that you were able to get the Parabolic from Chris.
                        Regards,
