Thanks for the tip. It's inconvenient, but I guess not really unreasonable.

I've just sent an email to eSignal expressing my desire that display of zero volume bars be made a user selectable option. As it should have been all along.

I suggest that anyone else interested in this fix also send them a message. Most companies are complaint driven on things like this, so the more they hear from us the more likely they are to do something.
