Change From Open

Does anyone know of an efs that will allow me calculate the 'change from open' and the 'change from close'?

This can definitely be done, Carlton.

Figure out if the market just opened using time functions (i.e. is it 930?),
save open(), save the prior close(-1), return the difference between the
current price and ones you just saved...

I have always wanted to be able to set alerts based on the change from today's open or yesterday's close, without having to repeatedly modify the alerts themselves. For example, I would like to be alerted if the $SOX or $BKX moves up or down 1%. Is this doable?

You can easily do that with the Alerts available in eSignal.
Select View->Alerts from the main menu or click the icon with the yellow bell.
It will open the following window



Select the field you want to use for the Alert (ie Change from Close or Change from Open etc), the type (Audio, Popup, etc) and then click Add.
This will open the following window where you set the conditions for the Alerts (including whether this Alert applies to all Layouts).
