  • Backtesting hangs in Esignal. Common?

I've been unable to backtest a strategy unless the entire data has been previously loaded into a chart.

For instance, if I try to backtest an intraday strategy for 120 days, I'll have to load up a chart with all of the data and make sure I've loaded up the same time interval. Otherwise ESignal will just pop up a window saying it's loading data and hang until I click the cancel button.

Just popping this message on the board to see if this is a common problem or if there's a better way. It gets kind of annoying having to wait for all this data to load combined with waiting for the backtest results.

    my comments..

I have not tried this in a while....

You might want to direct your question to Scott Johnson (of esignal).

I usually load up the chart with the EFS on it for the number of days I want to run the test on. That way, when I get the results, I can look thru the chart for the signals (and problems).

Thanks Brad, I do the same thing you do. A workaround for the time being, I guess.
