GET EOD crashes at startup

I just installed GET EOD 7.8 420 into my new computer, Pentium 4 with HT Technology.

After spending countless hours figuring out why it crashes, I cared to look at the 8-31-2005 CD on explorer and noted a fix with the release note to replace GET.exe with the patch provided.

I did that in the GET directory. However, now when I try to open GET.exe, the computer prompts me that GET.exe is not a valid Win32 application. I am using WinXP/SP2.
