  • Crude Oil, Gold, etc...

I like to try and keep up to date with crude, gold, and those type of futures commodities. I currently use http://www.marketcenter.com/futures to see what those markets are doing.

I use Advanced Get EOD for my stock and options trading, and I know that I can chart crude oil and gold, but what symbol do I use?

When I do New Chart to bring up a chart on crude oil, there are many choices (CL F0, CL F1, CL F2, etc.) with years attached to each chart (2000, 2001, 2002, etc.). Which chart should I be looking at?

If I type CL #F it'll bring up a chart, but which future am I looking at?

Thanks for any guidance you can provide!

    Bobby

    Hello Bobby,

All of the energy and metal futures' symbols come from NYMEX. The symbols guide for NYMEX can be found here.

CL #F refers to a continuation symbol where the front month contract is always used, and the historical data is linked together to form an extensive history of data.
