Scanner doesn´t work

when I open the scanner, the arrow to activate the screen is not green. There is an inactive botton. Can anyone tell me where is the problem?

Please activate the scan by clicking on "Search" on the menu bar. Once you have clicked on "Search", the green arrow will appear.
